Experiencing Halal Food in Tainan, Taiwan (3) ~ West Borneo Road

This is our third times writing about halal food certified eateries in Tainan, the ancient capital of Taiwan. Our destination called Odosan, a place in north side of the city which served kind of dessert made from soy bean, red bean, mung bean and taro. Sounds familiar with this kind of food? yup.. In Tainan, this kind of bean based dessert can be easily founded across the city. But this time is different, because this shop was halal certified from Kaohsiung Mosque.

Odosan was located in Beiyuan Rd, actually several bus have route and stop near the shop but since our place just 15 by bicycle then we take a bicycle. We try this shop at night near its closing time 9PM, no special reason why us came at night, just we want.. that's it.

Odosan space was not big enouhg but not too small, inside the shop they have around at least 5 tables, each with 2 or 3 small chairs. Even when it is full, you still can take a seat outside. The staff speak at us in Chinese, but as non native Tainan, we reflect to ask them about the menu written in English, and they have it and shown it to us.

At the moment we are guessing what food would be, i'm attracted by the poster of the food in wall inside the store. The poster shown their most favorites dishes, then we have an idea to order one type of food per one person. If you wonder we use English, noo.. we use our best Chinese from our Chinese class even it is only a few word "Wo yao... zhe ge".. with our gesture.. hahaha..

They have a lot of menu, but since we are no idea about the food we just pick three combination.

Before ordering, we are not really recognized the size, because it not good if we left waste. But after the storekeeper give us then we can smile because it was not too big and not too small.. it's fit. The taste not too strong, not too sweet but natural. And in some dish (except ice) you can order it in hot (or warm) so it also suitable to fulfill your hunger when travel Tainan at winter/

So, if you are travelling in Tainan and looking for halal certified food around the city. You can go to Odosan by following this map, and you can use bus number 5 or Green Main Line " 綠 " and stop at Kaiyuan bus stop, Odosan in the Beiyuan Rd. just around 60 meter distance, you can walk.
